The Sea is a Field: Inkmaking Workshop

A site-specific workshop along the Changi Coast, exploring the colours and textures with workshop participants through colour making. We first conducted a few site recces of the coast and collected small samples of the plant material back to the studio for experiments, exploring the natural colour palette of the space. We made inks and pigments from mussel shells, fallen Ketapang leaves, love vines tangled around tidy shrubs, barnacles, and some found mangrove leaves.

We then shared these colours during a workshop with participants, and introduced them some simple inkmaking methods that we work with in the field. It was a lovely day out exploring the foraged colours of that part of Changi coast.
