Rimbun Dahan Artist Residency

Situated on a private garden planted with giant forest trees and an indigenous kitchen garden, our time at Rimbun Dahan was spent exploring binders, resins, adhesives, and of course natural colour pigments. As our first overseas residency, we were trying out an approach to site-specific material experiments and eventually, the development of artworks by Shirin. We have put together a small zine documenting most of the material encounters and experiments during our stay.

From top to bottom: varnish from resin of Canarium littorale tree (left) applied on cardboard canvas (right), basket making with long leaves of Pandanus tectorius shrub, starch glue from the underground tubers of the Alocasia macrorrhizos
